Mountain Hub recently won 4000 Euros from the AfriLabs Virtual Grant Series 8 amongst two other hubs in West and East Africa. This was an initiative of the AfriLabs Capacity Building Programme sponsored by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) through the Digital Africa seed fund. This grant was targeted at “Supporting ventures to build viable products”.

The AfriLabs Virtual Grant Series 8 is one the significant achievements the Hub has made since its launch in February 2022.

As the number One Fintech Hub in West and Central Africa, we germinate, incubate, accelerate, and mentor fintech Startups and Scale-ups. The goal of the grant is to help startups within the Silicon Mountain community and beyond to learn and implement practical strategies that will enable them to develop viable products while increasing collaboration between business support organisations (innovation hubs, tech labs, and maker spaces) within the CEMAC Region .

This goal will be achieved through the six (6) week-long virtual sessions involving coaching sessions, presentations, tech debates, fireside chats (storytelling), panel discussions, “ideathons”, hackathons, workshops, and team meet ups, and networking sessions.

The Afrilabs Virtual Meetup Grant this year received a total of 41 applications that were screened and only 38 applications were approved for further evaluation via their independent reviewers.

It should be noted that, alongside Mountain Hub 02 other Hubs emerged as winners of the competition.

The hubs are;

FabLab Winam, Kisumu Kenya, East Africa https://www.fablabwinam.org/

InnoHub, Accra, Ghana, West Africahttps://www.innohub.com.gh/
